Mambo Restaurants partners with Taxis Fiesta to provide dinner
and Dynamo tickets to at-risk youth
Houston Astros donates tickets to McReynolds Middle School students
in the Taxis Fiesta and Yellow Cab mentoring program

Houston, TX (May 21, 2008) – The McReynolds Middle School students who participated in the Taxis Fiesta/Yellow Cab mentoring program celebrated a year of hard work and achievements with dinner, a Houston Astros home game and a Dynamo home game, thanks to the program’s community partners, Mambo Seafood and the Houston Astros.

Established in 2005, the Taxis Fiesta and Yellow Cab mentoring program matches at-risk students with a Taxis Fiesta or Yellow Cab staff member as a mentor. During the school year, the mentor and student meet biweekly for lunch. The mentors identify the students’ needs, and arrange for tutoring if needed. Their main goal is to inspire the students to seek a brighter future. “These students often enter the program with a limited view of what they can achieve,” said Roman Martinez, president of Texas Fiesta. “We mentors strive to provide the student with a broader perspective, and to help the students set goals and create a long-term education plan.”

On Tuesday, May 20, the 90 students who completed the program joined their mentors for dinner, compliments of Mambo Seafood Restaurant. Then they were treated to Minute Maid Park tour, which was arranged for and underwritten by Don Sanders of Sanders Morris Harris Group, Inc., a Houston-based financial services holding company. To conclude the evening, the group enjoyed great seats, donated by the Houston Astros, for the home game against the Chicago Cubs.
Mambo Seafood Restaurant, sponsor of the May 31st Houston Dynamo home game against the New York Red Bulls, generously donated 100 tickets to the students and their mentors. Taxis Fiesta is the official transportation sponsor of the Houston Dynamo.
