SPRING BRANCH EDUCATION FOUNDATION RECEIVES DONATION FROM TAXIS FIESTA AND YELLOW CAB FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCCER PROGRAM
Houston (May 8, 2006) As part of a continued commitment to the Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD), Taxis Fiesta and Yellow Cab donated $20,000 to fund the SBISD Middle School soccer program. Made in part to commemorate Taxis Fiesta’s 20th year anniversary of operation, the money will be distributed between seven schools, and will be used toward stipends for the coaches, transportation, uniforms, referees, and equipment.
“Taxis Fiesta and Yellow Cab are proud to play their part in influencing the health and happiness of our youth,” said Roman Martinez, executive vice president of community affairs for Texas Taxi. Texas Taxi is the owner of Taxis Fiesta and Yellow Cab.

The donation for the Spring Branch Education Foundation is not the only thing Taxis Fiesta and Yellow Cab have done to enhance Houston-area schools. The companies donated computers to McReynolds Middle School and E. O. Smith Middle School to assist students in reading and mathematic skills, and the companies established a tutoring and mentoring program with McReynolds Middle school in November 2005.
Taxis Fiesta’s and Yellow Cab’s partnership with the Spring Branch Educational Foundation is just one of many charitable outreach initiatives that makes up the Yellow Cab/Taxis Fiesta Cares program, a program that provides charitable dollars, taxi advertising, employee volunteer time and other resources to local charities and companies. Yellow Cab’s vast community involvement ranges from working with local charities and events, including the Houston Police Foundation, the HISD Foundation, Child Advocates, Inc., Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure, and Fiestas Patrias. Yellow Cab/Taxis Fiesta Cares has also created programs such as annual scholarships, mentoring partnerships with local schools, underwriting local youth athletic events and building community awareness campaigns concerning drinking and driving.
